Mechanism and structure of the robot NAO

In December 2011, The  Nao Next Gen  came out  including software and hardware improvements, high-definition cameras, greater robustness, anti-collision systems and faster walking speed. Since 2011 more than 200 academic institutions have used the robot. In 2012  Nao robots had been donated to teach autistic children using them in an United Kingdom school. Some children found the infantile and expressive robots more relatable than human beings Here we have a video of the autistic children.

The robots have 14, 21 or 25 degrees of freedom; an inertial measurement unit with accelerometer, gyrometer and four ultrasonic sensors that provide Nao with stability and positioning in space. The legs include eight strength sensing resistors and two stops. The robot also has a multimedia system based on Linux, including four microphones (for speech recognition and sound localization), two speakers (for text-to-speech synthesis) and two high-definition cameras (for artificial vision, as facial and shape recognition). It also comes with a software package that includes a graphical programming tool, a simulation software and a software development kit.

Let´s talk about some NAO structure : 1.Tactile sensor : menu to interact non-verbally with NAO. 2. speakers: NAO have 2 speakers which are located on the sides of the head. NAO talks , prompts, share his story ,plays music... 3.Battery: NAO is free to navigate without being connected to a power source. 4.Prehensile hands with sensors : To grasp small items and to work on object exchange and turn-taking 5.Foot bumpers: another way to interact with NAO 6.Eyeleds :NAO uses color code to express emotions and even play edutaining color games . 7.Cameras : Nao uses 2 cameras located on the head and on the mouth used to recognizes pre-recorded faces , pictures, read books, imitates... 8. Sonars: NAO have 4 sonars for detects wether something stands closely in front of him. 9.Microphones : NAO have 4 microphones for detects the origin of sounds and understands what you say .
